Blog Entry 10 (ECT): The Harm of Wasting Food

When food gets wasted it affects the environment in multiple ways. Such as all food production adds greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, and producing excess food uses unnecessary crop land, water and fertilizer. As food rots in landfills, it produces more of the greenhouse gas methane. When I was doing research about how much food gets wasted the percent came up as between 30 to 40 percent of the entire American food supply ends up wasted each year. When food gets wasted it goes to landfills sites where it rots and releases methane, a damaging greenhouse gas the food that gets wasted should be going to homeless shelters or places where people who can't afford to buy food.   It is very Important to have a healthy diet and watched what you cause some people have diabetes and other issues. People with health issues should have a balanced diet watch what they and do but everybody is different and wants to do their own thing. That’s what you see in the everyday real life world people always say they are going to eat healthy and have a balanced diet but eat junk food.   As I started watching the fresh documented  film it  made me  realize  I want  to change  my lifestyle and the way I eat.   What  they  did to the animals  was  very cruel and mean. The film fresh also taught me that so much food gets wasted as well but we should learn to be  grateful  for what do have  instead  of being wasteful there  are  people out  there  in the world who  can't  afford food.  I also fe el  that   industry  companies  should start doing a better job   of  spending  money and not being wasteful  and giving food to people who cannot afford it. Blog Entry: 6 The importance of protecting animals and preventing them from being abused

   When I say protecting animals and preventing abuse I’m talking about all kinds of animals, dogs, cats, birds, elephants etc. We need to make sure t hat animals around us are safe, healthy and protected, because we rely on them for food, labor and companionship. Abuse happens every day. For example, in some countries like India, Thailand, they cut elephants tusk off. Now because of that the elephant population number is starting to decrease. It doesn’t matter the size of the animal rabbit, lizard, dog, cat, they are still animals that can be abused and hurt.   The loss of one animal or plant can change the environment. The loss of one plant can endanger 30 insects.   In my Cultural Diversity in Education class, we have been discussing many different topics the Impact of changes, The history of Multicultural Education, Race and Bias. The one I found most interesting in are class discussion was being bias. Bias is caused to feel or show inclination or prejudice for or against someone or something. the reason why and how this topic is important for people to know is that because there is different bias.   Cultural bias, also known as implicit bias, involves those who perceive other cultures as being abnormal, outlying, or exotic, simply based on a comparison to their own culture.   In-group bias this type of bias refers to how people are more likely to support or believe someone within their own social group than an outsider.
